Government Backed
Very few government backed schemes and initiatives can claim as much grassroots support as the Neighbourhood Management scheme that stpetersnm.com was born from. The main reason being that people who live in areas like St Peters in Leicester have long had a genuine and deep seated wish to see the area in which they live attain to better standards
Social Housing should not mean second rate or poor standard housing. And yet it invariably does.
Why should the fact that people who live in areas run by local authority or housing trusts mean we should put up with things that our owner occupier counterparts on the whole do not.
Well now the Government recognised this and initiated the Neighbourhood Management Board scheme that will gives residents more control over how the areas in which we live are run, and will gave us a forum in which to hold to account those agencies responsible for the management of the areas in which we live. St Peters Neighbourhood Monitoring in St Peters Leicester has taken the very best practice from the Neighbourhood Management scheme thay ended here in April 2008 an has developed it under the Neighbourhood Monitoring brand.

Neighbourhood Monitoring
Parents... do you know where your kids are?
Parents in this neighbourhood have a responsibility to know where their children are and what they are up to at all times.
A lot of the vandalism, accidents, and low level offences occur when parents have no monitoring or don't know where their children are or what they are getting up to.
In addition to the criminal damage, there are each year, hundreds of accidents are caused because children are somewhere where they ought not to be doing things they should not be doing.
All too often parents in this neighbourhood give their children too free a reign and have not the slightest clue about what they are doing. The evidence of this is around us for all to see.
It is usually the case that when we see damage in our community to public and private property and infrastructure it is because parents have not monitored and managed their children effectively.
What do we mean by effective monitoring?
Effective monitoring of children surely means the following... that parents make a point of:
- Knowing where their children are.
- Who they are with.
- What kind of things they are planning to do.
- And how they will get their and get back.
Parents should also make sure their children know what to do in any emergency and what their expectations are.
We are not for one minute advocating total control over all behaviour and choices. But parents in St Peters need to understand that monitoring is an important right and responsibility of parenting.. especially if children complain that you don't trust them.
Is this proposal that you monitor what your children are doing in this neighbourhood draconian and excessive? Look at this and then tell us.
