Neighbourhood Management

St Peters Highfields Leicester - Neighbourhood Website.

Help us make St Peters better.

We believe that St Peters can be better.

It can be a better place to live, work, study and visit for all.

One of the biggest issues here in terms of its impact on the community here is litter. And it has been so for quite some time.

It is so endemic and part of the day to day life of the neighbourhood that people, even those responsible for managing the neighbourhood no longer notice it to such an extent that they are motivated to take realistic action over it.

St Peters NM feels that if people knew that there is a prospect of action being taken to identify them if they throw or leave litter that they would go out of their way to be more mindful about its disposal.

Litter

  • Highfields Centre and Litter
Since we published our initial articles last year on the appalling moat of litter surrounding the Highfields Centre they have made a consistent effort to keep the front of the building clear of litter. However, the back of the Highfields Centre on Stoughton Street in St Peters, Highfields Leicester, went into an all new level of decline about which we have sought redress on 3 separate occasions between April 2008 and March 2009. This article is our way of escalating pressure for resolution of this issue because previous requests have not been successful.
  • Who Is Responsible 800
We have tried to get the area marked here in red cleared of litter and kept clear.

The Highfields Centre has gone quiet some way along the road of improvement in the management of the appearance of the front of its 96 Melbourne Road premises in the past 12 months since we asked them to deal with this matter.

But the back of the building in Stoughton Street has gone into terminal decline and with the general improvement in the rest of St Peters through the hard work of Kamina Rhugani and her team at the St Peters Area housing office as regards litter, this Highfields Centre land now really does stand out and call for focused attention by our neighbourhood website at stpetersnm.com.
