Neighbourhood Management

Changing St Peters in Leicester..? - You Bet !

Government Backed

Very few government backed schemes and initiatives can claim as much grassroots support as this one. The main reason being that people who live in areas like St Peters in Leicester have long had a genuine and deep seated wish to see the area in which they live attain to better standards

Social Housing should not mean second rate or poor standard housing. And yet it invariably does.

Coming soon... an embarresing comparison website that will compare st peters with the very best in high rise buildings and services.

Why should the fact that people who live in areas run by local authority or housing trusts mean we should put up with things that our owner occupier counterparts on the whole do not.

Well now the Government has recognised this and has initiated the Housing Management Board scheme that will give residents more control over how the areas in which we live are run and will give us a forum in which to hold to account those agencies responsible for the management of the areas in which we live.

Our Aims and Objectives in St Peters

st peters neighbourhood management board leicester

That 'within 10 - 20 years no-one should suffer deprivation or substandard services because of where they live' and to create neighbourhoods where people want to ' live not leave.

Any symptoms or evidence of a reality not consistent with these stated aims will certainly be highlighted on this website... so watch this space.

Why is it the case that private high rise and ultra high rise buildings have not the problems that our four 18 floor towers buildings here in St Peters have.

We have seen problems like the suspended ceiling in Framland house being damaged for two years or more without Leicester City Council doing anything about it.

In that time, numerous council staff must have come and gone from the entrance of that building and walked underneath the damaged and missing tiles.

Working for Leicester City Council without due care and attention ought to be a dismissible offence. Lets get in some council staff who have their eyes open and do take note of issues in this neighbourhood.

The council tax and rent being paid by many residents in this neighbourhood represents a great proportion of their income than many of their home owner counterparts so all in all more is expected from Leicester City Council in return.

In reality less is given.
